These are legal documents which contain statements that explains all the ways in gathering, using, disclosing, and managing a client’s data. It can be personal information such as name, date of birth, marital status, address, contact information, valid ID and expiry date, credit record, financial records, health history, places traveled, and intention to earn goods and services.

Privacy policy in business discloses statements that declares a party’s policy on how it releases, stores, and collects personal information. It is also stated in the private policy if the collected information can be shared with other party, sold to other firms, or kept confidential.

Privacy policy focus its emphasis to the individual’s physical and moral autonomy, therefore, it is a part of constitutional protection. Contents of a privacy policy may vary depending on the applicable law and requirements in terms of legal jurisdictions and geographical boundaries like what most countries have.

 History of Privacy Policy

Back in 1968, the Council of Europe started an investigation about the effects and potential harm of technology to human rights. The ability of the computer technology to link and transmit information which was not possible before, was recognized as a threat for privacy.

A year later, another group of people, the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) pursued an examination about the effects of one’s personal information leaving the country.

These studies convinced that the council to recommend a privacy policy that will protect all the personal information held by both public and private sectors.

The Swedish Data Act in 1973, West German Data Protection Act in 1977, and the French Law on Informatics, Data Banks and Freedoms in 1978 were the first privacy policy laws ever enacted.

In the United States, the privacy policy scare began in 1960’s to 1970’s and legislating its first passage was the Fair Credit Reporting Act. However this act was not directly focused on the privacy policy, hence it provides customers a chance to examine their credit records and correct any errors.

Privacy policy also applies to online websites. As you can see they have an explanation on how they use the information you provide to them, how cookies are stored, log in information, user communications, third party applications, location data, unique application number, and other websites that may be linked to them.

Privacy Policy During Auditions and Casting Calls

Before going to an audition or casting calls, you are required to submit a resume which includes personal information such as name, email address, phone number, current address, and other relevant information needed by the casting crew such as skills and background in acting.

Those information were kept confidential. The primary reason why they need it is to create a shortlist of actors and actresses for the role.

Part of the privacy policy is children who are below 18 years old will not be allowed unless accompanied by their legal guardian.
