About Bobby Flay

Bobby Flay

Bobby Flay is celebrity chef, successful restaurant owner, and television personality. He has accomplished more at a young age than many other chefs achieve in a lifetime. His ability to create recipes and dishes with bold flavor and flair, in combination with his personal style and winning personality, has catapulted him to culinary success.

Booby Flay Cooking Interest

Bobby Flay was always interested in cooking, and in fact, he tells the story of how when he was young, he had asked for an Easy-Bake Oven. He received the toy oven, and has been cooking ever since. Bobby Flay dropped out of school at age 17, and went to work in the restaurant where his father was a partner. His abilities impressed the restaurant owner so much that he paid Bobby Flay’s tuition to attend The French Culinary Institute. Bobby received the school’s first “Outstanding Graduate Award”, and to this day he remains associated with the school, serving as a spokesperson for the school.

It was shortly after graduating from culinary school that he was introduced to the type of southwestern ingredients that have become Bobby Flay’s trademark. While he was working at his first job as an executive chef, he was offered an opportunity to open the Mesa Grill, which was wildly successful, and as a result, he was made a partner in the restaurant. Bobby Flay remains as the executive chef and owner of the Mesa Grill to this day, in addition to being executive chef and owner of eight other restaurants as well.

Bobby Flay is also the host of several programs on the Food Network, and is a popular television personality. In addition to being the regular host for these shows, he also frequently appears as a guest on other shows, and hosts special programs on the network as well. These shows include “Boy Meets Grill”, “BBQ with Bobby Flay”, and “Throwdown! with Bobby Flay”. He is also a regular chef on the network’s “Iron Chef” program, and has served as a judge on programs such as “The Next Food Star”, and “The Next Iron Chef”. He has also appeared as a guest on the shows of other network chefs, such as Paul Deen and Emeril Lagasse. He has also hosted television shows on other networks as well, including hosting cooking segments on CBS’s “The Early Show”.

Bobby has received numerous awards over the years, including being named as the Rising Star Chef of the Year in 1993 by the James Beard Foundation. He also won a Daytime Emmy in 2005 for “Boy Meets Grill”, as Outstanding Service Show Host.

Bobby is also the author of several cookbooks. His first cookbook, titled “Bold American Food”, won the 1995 IACP Award for Design. His third book, “Boy Meets Grill”, spent several weeks on the Los Angeles Times “Hot List”, in the number one position.

Whatever he does in the culinary world, Bobby consistently achieves success. He has a unique ability for not only creating unique, flavorful and memorable dishes for his dining guests, but to continue to educate and entertain his television fans as well.

Bobby Flay is one of the greatest American Chefs of all time.
